    • SSI employee injury rates are routinely below national injury averages due to strong commitment and interaction from all levels of management
    • Safety programs emphasize employee involvement throughout all phases, including identification of hazards, program creation, implementation, evaluation, and recognition

    • To increase employee and family awareness of the power to affect our own health, SSI conducts annual health fairs at each site
    • Annual onsite health screenings by third party organizations, at no cost to employees, provide employees with confidential information on their cholesterol levels, body fat percentage, blood sugar level, etc.

      • A state-of-the-art truck wash/water reclamation facility for the over 100 trucks and trailers at its Lathrop, California distribution center.
      • A dissolved air flotation (DAF) waste treatment facility at its Fairfield dairy where the remaining solids are used to create methane gas for electricity.
      • Production of 1.2 kW of electricity using its own natural gas cogeneration plant at the Lathrop distribution center.

    • SSI is able to deliver products to our hundreds of partner stores often within one day, at very low per case cost, and superior accuracy through technological systems using the:
      • Talkman® hands-free and paperless order selection system that allows order selectors to talk back and forth in plain English with the host computer system over a spread-spectrum radio frequency network
      • Priya® warehouse management system which tracks and manages, in real time, over 84,000 rack positions and $50 million of daily inventory
      • Telxon® radio frequency scanning system on all forklifts allowing the host computer to order resupply of rack positions in real time
