Mid Valley Dairy d.b.a. Sunnyside Farms, was founded in 1981 when a group of independent grocers joined forces to identify their needs in a highly competitive marketplace. They shared the conviction and commitment to excellence that allowed them to bring their creative plan into a reality that has set new standards in the dairy industry. Mid Valley Dairy is a classic example of a reality that rises far above what has merely worked well before. By merging a thoughtful plan with the most advanced plant technology, computer automation, and a motivational employee-relations program, Mid Valley quickly became one of the most efficient fluid plants in the nation.

The original partners made a joint statement that became the operating instructions for Mid Valley management: “We are not in the business to simply produce and distribute dairy products: we are in the business to provide the very best product at the very best value. Our plants, equipment and personnel should be so far superior that everyone will notice.” In short, “A total commitment to excellence in all things.”

Attesting to the success of that commitment to excellence is Sunnyside Farms’ participation in the Quality Chekd Dairy Products Association, employee participation in their Pride in Performance Committee, city architectural awards, fleet appearance commendations, and many awards for milk production and ice cream quality.

In 1991 with the success of our two Mid Valley Dairy Plants and the Westpac dry goods and frozen goods warehouse in Lathrop, the name Super Store Industries was created to cover all three divisions in a corporate environment.
