Super Store Industries’ Turlock Dairy Division first opened its doors as Mid Valley Dairy – Turlock in 1988. Because of the success of our sister plant in Fairfield, the Turlock Dairy Division was opened to provide ice cream and cultured products under the Sunnyside Farms label for our investors. With a small group of associates who came from the Fairfield plant combined with a small, local group of experienced dairy workers, Mid Valley Dairy – Turlock was launched and immediately became known for high quality products delivered to customers on time and for a reasonable price.
Soon, the new building couldn’t hold all of the product that was being demanded by our customers. More associates were hired and in 1991, the building was expanded to accommodate more frozen storage for our ice cream products and for expanded production lines.
Also around this time, the united success of the two Mid-Valley Dairy plants and the Westpac dry goods/frozen goods warehouse in Lathrop, the name Super Store Industries was created to cover all three divisions in a corporate environment of quality, safety, and professionalism. Sunnyside Farms ice cream, yogurt, cottage cheese, and sour creams were so highly regarded that outside companies began approaching the Company about doing products for them. In 1994, the Turlock Dairy Division ventured into new territory by becoming a co-packing facility for the Minute Maid Company, and began making and distributing a variety of Minute Maid juices. To satisfy this new business, the building was expanded yet again with more chilled goods storage area and an entirely new production area to make the juices. Since then, the Turlock facility has become a very busy co-packing facility which produces numerous different products for many different customers.
Since opening its doors in 1988, Super Store Industries’ Turlock Dairy Division has maintained a level of quality and excellence with our products unparalleled in the Central California dairy industry. As a member of the Quality Chekd dairy association, the Turlock plant has been nominated numerous times for the association’s Gingrich Award, recognizing the single most excellent plant in the nation, and has won the award several times. Coupled with the Fairfield plant, the two Super Store Industries dairy divisions have been nominated for the associations Weber Award, recognizing the most excellent dairy company in the nation on an almost annual basis, and have taken the award home on many occasions.
